An interesting debate. I'm working on a job where I have to use Kdevelop 2.1 on RH/KDE, and while I am quite impressed with how well Kdevelop works in light of its FOSS origins, it still lacks polish compared to Visual Studio. Its mostly little things, not show stoppers, but annoying. For example, if you create a default "Hello World" project for console use, you get multiple directories filled with all sorts of cryptic files for automake etc. For example, you can't create a new file in the IDE without first giving it a file name. For example, you can't define a workspace with multiple dependent projects. Linux/FOSS can't beat Microsoft in the consumer market for the same reason a guy with a knife can't beat a guy with a gun. --Phil M. --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
