I believe that there are two issues: The least of these two is the conception that Unix is still in the stone ages (no GUI). The greater of the two evils is that microsoft compatibility leaves MUCH to be desired. I know that my father would convert his business to Linux if there was some way to get his great many M$ programs to operate under linux. If someone knows how he could do this talk to him at havens@wmonline.com :-)Mike(-: ----- Original Message ----- From: Ted Gould Sent: 2/23/2004 10:53:22 AM To: plug-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us Subject: [website poll] What impedes further Linux server adoption the most? Well, after a week off caused by mailing list issues, here is a new poll! What impedes further Linux server adoption the most? - I can't afford one - Active Directory plug-n-play - Not MSCE compatible - Lack of combined Hardware-Software support contracts - Lack of good sales to enterprise customers - Unix heritage seen as out dated - Needs government security certification - Calendar server Last week's poll: Feature holding back desktop Linux adoption - USB dev. detect **** (1) - No MS Office **** (1) - No Outlooks/Notes **** (1) - Lack of multimed. **************** (5) - Too many distros ******* (2) - No one to blame **** (1) - No clue **** (1) - Other ********************** (7) - Games ****************** (6) Analysis: You know you've created a bad poll when most of the votes are 'other' or the entry that you added late ;) Have fun, Ted This message has been scanned for viruses by the VEI Internet Automatic Email Spam and Virus Scanner, and is believed to be free of spam or viruses.
