Quick summary: I get this error when trying to copy a
file from an ISO backup image:

  cp: reading `filename': Input/output error

For a long time I've done daily backups by copying a
large bunch of stuff to an ISO image on my hard drive.
It's not a perfect system, but it has saved my butt
many times.

Today I upgraded from Mozilla 1.2.1 to 1.6. Very nice.
Except the first time I used it, it reduced my
bookmarks file to no links. That's what I get for
following instructions. I should have backed up my
.mozilla directory. Silly me.

I have my bookmarks file set as my Home page. More
specifically, I have the home page set to a
file:///some/path/bookmarks.html, but that's just a
symlink to the real bookmarks path in
~/.mozilla/blahblah/bookmarks.html because I found that
Mozilla would not let me use the direct file name. I
don't know why.

So when I discovered that I had no bookmarks left (and
I should add my bookmarks file is a carefully organized
accumulation of many hundreds of items collected and
categorized since the early days of Netscape), I
figured, okay, I'll just get it from the backup file.

So I mounted the ISO image, changed to the appropriate
directory, and got the error above. ls -l shows the
date and byte count information as it should be. This
happens when I run as root or as myself.

In fact, I can't ANYTHING from /iso/.mozilla on down.
And in fact, I tend to believe that the same will prove
to be true regarding any file or file with a directory
with a name starting with dot.

It probably means I need to adjust the options on my
backup script.

But does anyone know if there is a way for me to get at
that file? Please say yes. (I have the option of being
able to copy over the bookmarks file from my Mac, which
is much the same, but not identical.
