I am having difficulties modifying the list. Here is the weird part: I go in 
there (as root) and remove all stable and testing entries. Then I do an 
update and it starts updating the stable and testing packages! I then ls 
again and they're still gone but when I look at the list with the GUI they 
are still there.
I was modifying the wrong file! It was supposed to be /etc/apt/sources.list
Man, I can't believe I was playing with the wrong file.

Hey, could someone tell me what to do if a buggy apt-get gets through? Like, I 
think what you do is apt-get the stable version of what blows up; but how do 
you do that? Also, do you have to download the whole package or can you just 
apt-get the one little package you got before? How do you know which one it 
is?

I couldn't find the Mepis Configuration Center so I did do it manually.
