For whatever it's worth, I had to return a Motorola cable modem because I could not get it to negotiate an upstream speed higher than about 30Kbps on COX residential high-speed internet service. Downstream speeds were normal. First, I swapped it for the same Motorola model (the part number escapes me now). However, both units behaved the same. So, I swapped it for a Toshiba. The Toshiba worked right out of the box. This was in Tucson. Cox did a truck roll to verify the cable to the demarc. While the tech was there he commented that he sees this problem frequently with the Motorola modem. $0.02 YMMV ...Kevin
