Control Center -> KDE  Components -> Spell Checker -> change client to Aspell

Really it is half way working. It tells me what words are spelled wrong but 
does not give me any suggestions. For that a program needs to on the machine 
called 'wordnet'. It is being downloaded as we speak..... How strange; kmail 
gives me suggestions yet kword will not. Looks as if wordnet will be useful 
after all.
