The computer in question is a 5+ year old Compaq that came with a DVD drive back when DVD ROM drives were a real selling point. I don't know what brand it is. I can look when I get home tonight if you really want to know. > 2) Have you experienced the audio sync problem with Linux in the past? Sometimes in some video playback but this is my first experience with DVD playing. The previous time I tried to set it up a couple of years ago was a failure and I did not care enough to worry about it. (I'd rather sit in the living room to watch a movie.) That previous difficulty is why I picked it as a test of the update process in Fedora. I only watched about 5 minutes of the DVD during the testing. I'll have to try again to see if there are sync issues. I don't recall any. It's only a 400MHz CPU and I was surprised at how well it was doing. I'll report back after a longer test. > 3) Are the dvd decryption libraries part of the Ogle package or did apt > take care of those for you? apt took care of it, I assume. I did nothing special. As I reported, I installed Fedora, configured the repositories, did the apt-get and was immediately able to play a few minutes of a DVD. > Again, good job on the review. I found it helpful. Thank you. Alan
