I rebuild my box at home recently going from a stage 1. I started on a Fri. night and wasnt done until Sun. afternoon. It was a fully working gnome box by that time, though (minus some non-gnome packaged apps). This was an Athlon XP with 776M ram and 100G of disk space. However, I have only what I want on the system (no qt or kde stuff, no tcl/tk anywhere, etc). I also rebuild my server, that too 1/4 the time, though (no Xfree86, gui enviroment, etc).
