I spoke to soon. Creating a new device worked for the floppy but did not work 
for the cd-rom. When I click on it the response is:

	The desktop entry file
	/home/knoppix/Desktop/CD-ROM Device
	is of type FSDevice but has no Dev=... entry.

I just knew I should have checked it but thought that sinse making the new 
device on the desktop made the floppy work it would make the CDRom work too.

Darn.
