moin, moin, We need something like http://PLUG.phoenix.az.us/InstallFest/ rather than the mongo URLs that Post Nuke provides. Maybe we can just setup a tinyURL type of service for ourselves, or do a little mod_rewrite work, or use whatever www.PHP.net uses, or ... I'd like for /InstallFest/ to stay /InstallFest/, though. I'd like for us to agree on one desktop to use for all installs. I'm sure we'll never get that agreement, but I'd like it if we could :). I think it should be between KDE and GNOME. Maybe we could agree to fall back to flux or whatever it is that Derek uses for underpowered machines. The web site needs to have easy to find and easy to follow directions for what to bring. The press release can't cover that well enough, so we doubly need to rely on having expanded info on the web site. We need to remind them not to forget printers or any other external devices they might need to work with the new install. We need to tell them that we need space to install GNU/Linux. We need to have them defrag m$ filesystems if they want a dual-boot system. We need to remind them to make backups before bringing the box in. We need to cover what to do about ntfs. We need to figure out what to do about ntfs... We need to decide if we want to install Free Software on non-free systems. If we're gonna do that we need to talk to groups for those non-free systems and see if they'll help us out. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # I'm not anti-social, I'm pro-individual. - der.hans
