How about something like this:

1. apt-get install icewm-common
2. apt-get remove <Xcfe package>
3. in your .xinitrc place the line "exec icewm"
4. 'startx'

Me, I have one line in my .xinitrc: "exec blackbox". I wouldn't even
know what to do with a "desktop" :-)
