Use --download-only and go to sleep. That way it won't start the actual
installs.

Then, once the downloads are complete rerun the dist-upgrade without the
--downl-load only.

If you wake up and the download isn't done, use ^c to cancel it and then
start it again the next night ( or break when you don't need the bandwidth
).
