My issue come from knoppix and bbc not wanting to mount anything as rw on my prmary computer. I think they do not like my laptop, but I guess that is life Lets assume that somehow you hose your mbr trying to dual boot your install (lets say xp and 2000, and on the other hand 2 differnt kernel)... You have to admit that one of these seems to be a lot easier than the other: A. 1.Boot xp cdrom and hit F-something when prompted 2.Type fixmbr B. 1.Boot linux distro (pray to god that you do not need additional kernel modules for reiser, or whater fugly filesystem you might be using) 2.Mount filesystem (pray to god that you can get it to mount rwx, cause I have had issues on occasion) 3.Edit /etc/lilo.conf (pray to god that you do not screw it up more) 4.Run /sbin/lilo Although I am a religious fellow, praying should not be playing such a prominant roll in fixing my mbr. Also: you have to admit that the boot.ini is prettier than some fugly lilos... [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect And if I wanted to add 2000 on lets say hda2 I would just add something like: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2000" Craig White wrote: > On Mon, 2003-08-04 at 14:45, Rob Wultsch wrote: > >>For me I know that windows xp does not being on the first partiton, no >>matter where you put it...
