I just dd'd an entire partition so I could back it up later with some compression. Wasn't fun though. 25Gb over 100Mbit ethernet to an NFS share was a bit slower that I might have liked. However, I know the data is identical because I did an md5 check afterwards so I now have a 25Gb file that is completely identical, byte by byte, of a hard disc partition. Unfortunately, it's got 14Gb free in it that I don't have access to. Still though, "dd if=3D/dev/drive of=3D/file" is basically making a plaster cast of something to preserve the original. --=20 Bryce C CoBryce Communications --=-XMwdPtb5soDqVmV7BSXy Content-Disposition: inline Content-Description: Forwarded message - Re: Need help!
