Good point (reboot on the older one).  I forgot about that.  Thanks.

I did it.

It works (I think).  At least it booted and that's a good sign.  And it
served my FoxPro tables to my Win 2K machine.  That's a very good sign.

It works for me.

But I understand your concern.  When updating the kernel, RHN leaves
the old one installed so that's selectable via the bootloader (GRUB). 
So, if something should go wrong with the new kernel, you can always
reboot and try the one of the older ones.
