I hate to say this, 'cause I prefer to have unfettered 'Net access, but there *is* a solution: Buy business class service. You are using residential (i.e. lowest common denominator) service. The folks at Cox are doing what they can to protect themselves and the rest of the world from some pretty low-end users. Most of the things I have heard described on this list have been done by other ISPs, and rightly so. If you want big-boy Internet access, you will probably have to pay for it.
