I had actually read the winbind docs quite a few times and tried several versions of the examples to no avail. But I'm a big fan of reading things "one more time" and did so this time... and found the source of my login problems: I *need* to join the domain using an Administrator account on the PDC... and I don't have one. Thanks for the prodding. If I hadn't re-read that, I would still be in the dark. That still leaves the second part to my situation, though. How to print to a domain controlled network printer using CUPS *without* supplying the username and password in /etc/cups/printers.conf. Any docs I should re-read here? ;-)
