I have used IDE ATA cables as long as 36 inches without any problems. =
But a 36 inch special order cable was the longest I was able to find at =
the time, so I always thought that was the upper limit. I didn't have =
any problems with data corruption under a windows OS. I used them to =
image hard drives for computer forensic work back when I was with =
Phoenix PD as one of their forensic examiners. We would have seen any =
data corruption with them when we did hash values on the original drives =
and the images.

Well, with logic like that I promptly opened my wallet
and ....
Has it got anything to do with the old ATA/33/66 vs. the
new ATA/100/133? Or the old 40 conductor vs. the new
80 conductor? Anyone have any clues about this?
The system *seems* to work fine. Perhaps, my data is
quietly being corrupted, bit by bit ............ :-(
