I googled for 'Lilo "no ROM BASIC"' and got quite a few hits. This is a partition issue. You must have an active primary partition. Good luck, Bart >>> Howdy. I have a old laptop (toshiba 420 CDT, p1-100, 40 MB, 20 GB, ) that I would like to get working. I however do not have a boot medium, so I have tried installing various OS's on a hard drive and then transplanting them into the laptop. Under Windows it will not recognive the hd as a valid system disk. Under linux I get the following: "L 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40 40This BASIC was aborted, because this machine has no ROM BASIC. Use Toshiba's BASIC" I have played with lilo untilt the cows came home and started to mew telling me to ask for help. ------------------------- Robert James Wultsch III robert.wultsch@asu.edu sheepsleep7 (AIM) (480)951-3169 (Home) (602)692-7564 (Cell) 6900 East Gold Dust #107 Scottsdale, Arizona 85253, USA Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments.
