Hello PLUGers, Here is ASULUGs official Install Fest Announcement. We have been promoting on campus since last week and the event is this saturday April 12th. I am beginning to wonder if anyone will show up, its hard to say, we didn't build any registration website or anything. We have lots of volunteers for the event I think. But, if anyone is interested in showing up to help do installs let me know, and let me know what Distros you are comforatble with also. Any last minute tips? Oh, we are currently debating Waivers. Did PLUG use waivers in the past? If so did it turn people off? We have even talked to our lawyers and whatnot, they of course say use them. Austin -------- Original Message -------- Linux Install-Fest April 12th, 2003 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BA L1-21 and L1-25 sponsored by ASULUG and UNUG Installs - Software Demos - LAN games - Prizes BRING YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR HELP OR JUST COME TO SEE LINUX What to expect: We will have different distributions of Linux available (RedHat, Debian, Knoppix, SuSe, Mandrake). Our volunteers will help you install Linux on your machine and they will be there to answer any questions you might have about Linux. Afterward, you may bring your computer into the next room for multi-player gaming. We also plan to have mini-demos, that is to show different applications that you might enjoy once you start using Linux. What to bring: Bring your machine, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and any hardware you want configured for Linux (modems, sound cards, etc.) Ethernet cable will be provided. Location: BA building is located just next to parking structure #1, so you won't have to carry your hardware far. Parking in these structures is unrestricted on Saturday. Both rooms have Ethernet access. BA-L-21 and L1-25 are located in the basement. Need for Volunteers: If you would like to volunteer your time as an installer, please email Monika Soroczynska at Monika.S@asu.edu Saturday, April 12th 2003 10am - 4pm BA L1-21 and BA L1-25 (basement) Business Administration building, just south of MU, in the basement. Refreshments will be served For more information (and find the link for the fest): http://asulug.asu.edu/ http://unug.asu.edu/ We would like to thank PLUG and SuSe for helping us make our Install-fest better. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all our volunteers, who provide their time, ideas, hardware and other resources. Without them, there would be no Install-fest.
