I draft much of my documentation (well, OK, all) in Lyx. I also
do many of my diagrams (especially network) in Dia.

I continually have problems getting images inserted into a Lyx
document. I have exported dia files to .eps format then tried
to insert them, but I never get the results I look for.

Does anyone do similar work with these two programs and can offer some
basic guildlines to get an image into a lyx doc which looks
half-way descent?
