I believe you want to _use_ foomatic to generate a ppd file for your
particular printer, which is then used by the printing system (cups in your
case?) to preform printing incantations.

I would recommend looking into foomatic and it's documentation.  But also,
I must add that thanks to the challenge of printing from gnu/linux, I waste
FAR less paper than I usedto.
