I cannot be much help with this but I am very interested in the answers. 
However, the discussion would be better placed, (and answered probably) in the
devel list (plug-devel@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us).

If you are not already subscribed there, I suggest you do so and query in that
forum.  Some of the programming guys, and we have some good ones, hang out
only there.
