Deus Ex works great using WineX from Transgaming. Not necessarily completely open-source, but since games are one of the #1 money making software genre, not terribley horrible. Basically they have the source for you, free of charge. For as little as $5 a month you have access to download all of their .rpms, .debs, and .tgzs for your system of choice. They ran into a litle snafu when they first "mis-spoke" about what version of The Sims that they had running on the Mandrake gaming edition, but they are making great headway. DirectX implementation is keeping pace with the newest versions of DirectX, though most games take more tweaking than that. I successfuly play Counterstike, Deus Ex, StarCraft and Diablo 2 better than they run under windows in most cases, the same quality with the rest. The hottest games make the list first, but the forums on the site are a good place to search out tweaks for the config files for your favorite games. Bottom Line: If you loved Loki, you'll probably enjoy WineX just as much. As long as your not hung up on "libre" issues. Basically you're playing games already, so not every program you run is Open-source.... Check it out: www.transgaming.com Kyle Faber EMR Internet.com
