I'm jumping in at the end, so I don't know if you were doing an install when this happened, or later. If you are IN the install, there is only one place in Mandrake that I remember being able to choose the mouse, and that's at the start. I've almost never had good luck changing that value - if the mouse works at that point I always leave it alone. If you are running one of those nifty x free setup thingies, I have had mixed luck with them. Sometimes they make it better, sometimes worse.... However, at the point where the mouse was jumping all over the place, if you were inside mandrake setup you should have been able to use the keyboard - I've never had mandrake lock up so bad that the keyboard quit working (well, ok, if you get the video card wrong in x setup you can really mess yourself up! ;-). > > You reinstalled, but for the future it's easy to change in > /etc/X11/XF86config-4. I think that depends upon which Xfree you are using - version 4.x.x apparently uses the -4, 3.3.x does not - at least that's what I think I've seen. THe following is good advice, anyway (unless you are using gpm, in which case you might have other issues - but I forget, its been a while since I had to use gpm to merge 2 mice (I was using a Toshiba laptop)... > In the "InputDevice" section there's an option to choose the "Protocol". > "PS/2" is for a normal ps2 mouse and "ImPS/2" is for a ps2 scroll mouse.
