So far it seems to have been a big mistake. The new system does not recognize either the NIC or the sound card. Both were functioning perfectly under 7.3. Also none of the icons on the taskbar have any legend and since they are all the same icon, I have no clue as to what they are. Anyone have any ideas short of doing a new install from scratch?
