I am sure he would not mind the gift of a real modem.  He even talks about 
buying one if this winmodem will not work.  If someone has one they want to 
give or sell cheap, if needed, that would certainly be welcome.

In any case, he will gather the chipset information to allow pre-research 
to be done.  I can do that research.
