Lame is a better sounding encoder than bladeenc. It uses an improved 
psycho-acoustic model.

Gogo is a very high speed implementation of Lame. It runs very fast and is SMP 
enabled. I have personally seen it encode at greater than 40x. (dual Athlon MP 
1600+)

Mp3 encoders have licensing restrictions..... Ogg does not.
