moin, moin, our first GNU/Linux for Newbies class is this Wed! The current plan is to boot a box off Knoppix and I'll give a desktop tour. We need someone to lead this project! Please step forward. The objective is to teach 45 min to one hour classes once a month for 6 months. After 6 months the students should be ready for the intermediate classes that we probably won't start until next year. For now they'll be pointed at normal PLUG meetings and Stammtisch. We need people to coordinate publicity, teachers and curriculum. We need a decent curriculum that we can feed people, then we're not dependent on the time from one or two people for the teaching. We've had several volunteers to teach, George, you don't count until you're back in .az.us :), some on the east side and some on the west side. Guess what? That means we could be doing classes on both sides as soon as we're organized and we have students! That also means George could be teaching the classes for FlaLUG or whatever the group there is called. We've also got Wes in .tx.us :). Mostly we need the curriculum done. It should be a free documentation project. There are rumored to be a few out there, but we haven't had anyone review them to decide if they meet our needs. Once we have a curriculum worked out we need to start promoting the classes. We already have people planning on making this first set starting Wed, but we will need to promote the second run. We also have lots of room to play with the first run since it isn't yet organized. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ # I chose to use the kernel sources as my documentation. ;-) # -- Kevin Buettner
