I recently found a surplus place in Mesa.  Stuff faster than 450MHz doesn't 
stay in stock for long.  Everything they sell has a 90 day warranty, even 
used.  I picked up a couple of 6.4GB hard drives for $25 each and a couple 
of 233MHz PCs for $79 bucks.  Check http://www.pcmacsurplus.com.

Again, you have to catch the faster stuff like you friend wants on the day 
it gets in or you will miss it.
