I'm just working with xine as it was installed with Red Hat 7.3. Can Gentoo be used on top of a Red Hat 7.3 installation? Does it cause an essential change, or does it just provide the porting tools? > xine.sourceforge.net should have everything for it. > I do know that there is a plugin though. The site says that MJPG is handled natively. But then, what is the plugin that was missing? I will try downloading all the stuff they pointed to, and see if I get lucky. I don't know much about my AGP video card. The xine document seems to imply that I will need Xv to run AVIs properly. Elsewhere it says that it should work with a broad range of stuff, so that'll be the last thing I mess with. On the Windows side I downloaded a time-limited codec that lets me view an MJPG AVI file using Windows Media Player, but RealPlayer doesn't find it. This codec will turn to a pumpkin within a few weeks. Vic
