I asked licensing@gnu.org and got the following response: >Actually, the license here lists some exceptions: >http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/license.html > >Among these exceptions, time_lib.c is non-free. > >I think that the general infozip license is a Free Software license, but >not GPL-compatible. The second through last sentences of paragraph 3 >seen incompatible to me. > >-- >-Dave Turner >Free Software Licensing Guru >This is not legal advice. If you need legal advice, see a lawyer. So, it doesn't look free on the surface. However, time_lib.c is only used in the Amiga part of the source tree. So I'm not sure what that means. A little digging produced UnZip (runs on about all platforms and has source and is BSD'ish in licensing) http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/UnZip.html Because they chose to roll their own liscense (grumble, grumble), I can not readily say if it is or isnt 'free software', though on the surface it appears to be. http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/license.html Someons should ask license@gnu.org probably if it is a free software license or not, if so we should include it. -Derek
