I'm assuming that your video card and/or monitor were not configured properly during install. From runlevel 3, type: Xconfigurator Hopefully everything will be autodetected. What video card and monitor are you using, by the way? ~M On Fri, 2 Aug 2002, Peter Koch wrote: > Greetings -- > I am trying to set up a duel boot system with Red Hat 7.2 and Windows XP. All of the components in my system are fairly new (less than 6 months old). I have formatted half of the 80GB drive and installed Win XP using the NTFS file system. I have installed Red Hat 7.2 on the other half of the drive. Here are some of the installation particulars: > > 1. GRUB was selected as the boot loader. > 2. I selected Win XP as the default and the system will boot to that, but if I want to start Linux I have to use the boot floppy. Second problem, when I do start Linux it is in the text mode. I have tried the startx command and also change the file /etc/inittab to read id:5:initdefault: to change to graphical mode but I have had no luck. > I have done a very limited amount of programming in the past and I have no Linux experience.
