Maybe someone here can help this fellow with more technical information. I've already posted a reference to Matt Alexander's presentation on the plugpresents.org site. Vic -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [aztechlist] Linux in a Windows environment Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 12:56:15 -0400 From: "Corby Kissler" To: Hello list, I'm curious if there are any members of the list that have had first hand experience installing linux file and print sharing services in a corporate windows environment? My interest is in the migration pains that were felt from a technical perspective, and also from a business side, i.e. were there any hurdles to overcome with senior management. I'm looking at replacing some dedicated file sharing appliances with linux (red hat), a decent box, raid card and drives (super cheap). Storage costs are so low right now, that not having enough space in an environment is inexcusable (within limits of course) Have seen the Samba software but haven't played with it yet. Evaluating its integration with windows for file and print sharing from windows desktops. If anyone has an insight they'd like to share on TCO, buy-in, technical hurdles, i'd appreciate it.
