Thanks to all that has answers to my problem.
I have not forgotten you just had a series of different problems.
Starting last Saturday my ISP stopped forwarding my mail. Since
it was a weekend no tech was on hand till Tuesday and I didn't
start getting mail until Wed. But in the meantime while trying to
modify my system I erased my hda drive so had to reinstall my
OS. The OS is now SuSE Linux 8.0 and it doesn't like bash as 
well as SuSE Linux 7.3. After I got the OS working the only mail
that was coming in was junk, nothing from plug-discuss. so sent a test 
message and found out I was dropped from the subscribers list,
an so had to resubscribe. I think things are fine now except for bash,
which I will keep working on.
