Tom, The internet service is provided by Here, Inc. via a DSL line(and a Cisco 678 in bridged mode). Was your dsl modem in Bridged mode? -John -----Original Message----- From: plug-discuss-admin@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us [mailto:plug-discuss-admin@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us]On Behalf Of Tom Achtenberg Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 10:57 PM To: plug-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us Subject: Re: PPTP, E-smith, Linksys Router I was having a similar problem with an esmith on a Cox network. Finally, was tipped off here to unplug the power from the dsl modem and replug it in. This reset it and it connected fine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Albee" To: "PLUG" Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 9:55 PM Subject: PPTP, E-smith, Linksys Router I have a E-smith server setup on a private network (192.168.1.*) that connects to the Internet using NAT on a Linksys Router (with the latest updates). I have the E-smith server setup to allow PPTP connections and it works just fine from any host on the LAN side of the Linksys router, yet no matter how many different ways I configure the Router, I cannot seem to make a full connection to the server (it hangs on verifying user name and password....). I have searched the Internet for information on this yet I find differing responses. Is this even possible with this router? With Linksys, does PPTP passthru mean that it is only one way? -John ________________________________________________ See http://PLUG.phoenix.az.us/navigator-mail.shtml if your mail doesn't post to the list quickly and you use Netscape to write mail.
