Unfortunetly this did not work. I went in and commented out the search localdomain. Then put in the dns of my ISP, earthlink. I ran it again, with no luck, then looked at the file again. This time it looked like this: # search localdomain #entry disabled by kppp search localdomain # nameserver 209.244.0.3 #kppp temp entry # nameserver 209.244.0.3 # ppp temp entry # nameserver 209.244.0.4 #kppp temp entry # nameserver 209.244.0.4 # ppp temp entry nameserver 207.217.77.82 nameserver 207.217.120.83 nameserver 209.244.0.3 # domain earthlink.net #kppp temp entry # ppp temp entry I have no idea where the 209.244.0.3 came from, but the two starting with 207. are the dns of earthlink. I can not do a nslookup because the only computer I have access to that command is the one I am having a problem with. Any ideas of what else to try? mike --- Frank Mandato wrote: > Michael, > > I know nothing about samba, however, your > resolv.conf file should have > you ISP's name servers numerical address in it. > Comment out the "search > localdomain and change the addresses to your ISP you > should be OK. > > To get the addresses of your ISP do a nslookup and > you will get at > least one name server. > > FrankM > > On Tue, 2002-05-28 at 11:16, Michael wrote: > > When I connect to the internet I can not get > connect > > to anything.
