We need their monitor to make sure X is setup properly for their computing environment. Also that means 3 people can't watch what their box is doing. > Also, I'd be interested in hearing about some other applications of Linux. > One of my favorites is Freesco, a floppy-based firewall/router - > http://www.freesco.org/ for info. Of > course that may not be until late June, so I may be bringing that out! We've had a couple of firewall talks at the PLUG meetings recently and in Jan we covered alternative dists such as the floppy firewalls. I think this would be great for the InstallFest, but I think it would also be horrible for the InstallFest. It's horrible because it adds another level of confusion and it detracts from what I see as the main goal: get people using Linux on their desktop. It's great because I hate suggesting they put up a box that doesn't have a firewall in front of it. I think we need to hit a happy medium by showing them tools like Firestarter and having them firewall the box via local rules. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ # Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- # I took the one less traveled by, # And that has made all the difference. -- Robert Frost # I, OTOH, prefer to just go stomping through the desert... - der.hans
