I haven't been following the discussion closely so maybe this has been 
suggested already.

Would it be worthwile to base training on one of the Linux certification 
programs/book out there? Maybe even offering a prep course for those seeking 
certification.

Seems it would save reinventing the wheel and might give a real purpose to the 
course.
