Am 03. May, 2002 schwätzte Jeff so: > Who is Richard M. Stallman and what is his importance in life? and why do > we want to hear him talk if he is anal about dumb stuff? rms started the GNU Project, www.GNU.org, in 1984. He is the principle author of the GNU Public License ( GPL ) and verious pieces of software that make 'Linux' possible. GNU software forms the basis of the operating system that runs on the Linux kernel. There are many other pieces of software that make that all possible. For more about rms see the following two links. The first is a short bio for his speaking engagements. The second is his home page. http://www.gnu.org/people/speakers.html#Stallman http://www.stallman.org/rms.html A reason that we'd want to hear him talk is that he evidently knows the ideals behind the Free Software movement best since he's the one that defined it. I got answers to a few questions I had and had a few myths dispelled when he was here before. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ # Magic is science unexplained. - der.hans
