I use RedHat myself with KDE but I have not upgraded to KDE 3.0 yet.  
However, SuSE was my first Linux distro.  I won the door prize copy of 6.4 at 
my first PLUG meeting!

To the point, KDE is the default desktop for SuSE.  I don't know if they have 
an official install for KDE 3.0 but I would look there.
