I'm confused? Are you referring to WAN instead of WAP. WAP being wireless application protocol used on cell phones etc and WAN being wide area network. In other words, are you talking about 802.11b/a wireless networking. My opinion is that the combination of steel studs (if they were used as opposed to wood) and EMI is blocking a proper signal to transmit. Try using a 2.4Ghz cordless phone (if you have (access) to one) and wander around. IIRC, 802.11b/a is on that spectrum and if you get interference with the phone, then it's your building. Otherwise, try a different manufacturer. Bryce C.
