Any distro will do. There is a new Mandrake Gaming edition that includes a copy of the Sims. And RedHat is also very popular. As far as games programming, there are even a couple of books dedicated to games programming on linux. (Check amazon). You are probably best off using OpenGL and SDL(www.opengl.org , www.libsdl.org) as your graphics and sound/input APIs. For development tools, gcc is included with every distro - and by all means use it. You will also need to pick an editor, like Emacs or vi. Otherwise, you can buy CodeWarrior for Linux from Metroworks. Lastly, if your game is 3d, make sure you have a decent graphics card - either a GeForce from nvidia or a Radeon from ATI. Make sure you also have latest drivers installed. Good luck - you can post any development questions to the plug-devel list Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, March 07, 2002 5:54 PM Subject: Learning Linux, beginner needs help... > I am looking to run a Dual OS, my current windows and whatever Linux dist.
