Which version of RH are you using? I have at least 3 boxes here without KDE or Gnome on it and they are running fine. When I was installing my Router / Firewall I did find out that the min installation was *way* more than I would have wanted it (around 350MB) but since its a 2 gig Harddrive and I'm storing the log files on another machine I just let it slide. There are distro just for small installs (The Linux router project looks good).
