Yeah.. force it, or get apt-get for RPM. http://distro.conectiva.com/projetos/42/ It comes integrated with conectiva linux, but it should be usable in other RPM based distros. It may be a hard way to accomplish a gnucash install, but it would fix your 'dependancy-hell' problem in the future as well.
