In an unusual alert to computer users, the law enforcement agency's National Infrastructure Protection Center is advising users of the new Windows system to disable "universal plug and play" features, in addition to installing a free software fix available on Microsoft's Web site. . . . Microsoft also said it would not [bother to] send e-mail reminders to XP customers detailing the importance of downloading the fix. [Microsoft] Shares closed Friday up 78 cents at $67.54.
