It is the ONLY certification developed by the Linux community for the community. If you do not believe in certification then that is what it is worth. They now have Level I and Level II tests ready and are working on Level III now. http://lpi.org/ I do recommend studying hard as the test is not trivial, you will not pass it on book learning alone.
