Bryce, I had some similar problems recently (kernel panics during init or sometimes while the system was running) and tried all sorts of things - reinstalling, compiling all different kernel versions, etc. I finally determined that the hardware was flaky. I never determined the exact problem but with a new motherboard and power supply life is good. If you are getting desperate you may want to try swapping out hardware. Also, I don't have the bandwidth to download it , lousy 24.4 connection. Can anyone burn a copy and mail (yes, snail-mail) it to me. I'd be happy to pay the postage if anyone would. E-mail me off list. I had no trouble with my Epson Stylus Colour 900 USB. True plug and play and much better than WinBLOWS. I just used CUPS. Bryce C. The only thing I can recommend at this point (having had a similar problem) is to reinstall using the update feature. also, as 8.uh-0 is a dreaded "0" version, it might niot be a bad idea to simply upgrade to 8.1. One small problem I have encountered with 8.1 is that some printers that worked in 8.0 will not in 8.1 (the printfilters and the lpr are definitely different. I may try with the 8.0 version and see whats up. in the meantime, try an upgrade to 8.1. it worth the few hassles you *might* get. Technomage Bryce wrote: > > Hi.
