I had been using a Compaq Presario laptop and RH 7 for a year without any problems. I recently got a Dell Inspiron 8000. The great thing about it is that is it has an Nvidia Geforce Go video card in it. This is the new laptop 3d chipset. If you are into anything 3d (games, cad, etc) then you have to get this. Anyway, I've been running RH 7 and 7.1 on it without problem. Both install without incident. Video, network, keyboard works - Even the burner works without modification. You need to download and install the nvidia drivbers for accelerated support. In fact, I think you used to be able to order the laptop with Linux pre-installed, but Dell stopped doing that recently. I highly recommend this laptop. I believe the base price is around $2400. Also, I have been using a Linksys Cable/DSL Router with wireless access, and got a wireless card for the laptop. I got the drivers from the linux wlan project and they work great. Now it's possible to download and surf at highspeed from the patio. ;) Good luck...
