I tried this and it worked. I just tried it again using the email address I used before the trouble began. I received the message. Then, I tried sylpheed (thanks to Sundar for the post) - and it worked great! It worked with the setting that I had for KMail. So, I tried KMail again, and it failed as before. I wouldn't mind switching, but I have millions of mails in many folders (I haven't sifted through the list mail yet), and I don't know how to change the font sizes in GTK for sylpheed (I once tried gnome, and I couldn't find a way to change them there, either). Any feedback? Thanks alot for all of the input (learned alot about telnet in the process!) >From: KevinO >Reply-To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us >To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us >Subject: Re: Trouble sending email >Date: Wed, 07 Nov 2001 21:44:15 -0700 > >George Toft wrote: > > > > Did you do what John Albee told you to do? > > > > Try this: > > telnet mail.mindspring.com 25 > > HELO mindspring.com > > MAIL FROM: borgking@mindspring.com > > RCPT TO: george@georgetoft.com > > DATA > > Testing mail using telnet > > . > > QUIT > >I just did this with smtp.earthlink.net and it works like a champ.... > >I tried the above with mail.mindspring.net using borgking's address and >mine as RCPT TO: and >fairly promptly received : > >------ snip ----------- >Subject: > Date: > Wed, 7 Nov 2001 23:36:45 -0500 (EST) > From: > borgking@mindspring.com > > > > >testing mail sending on behalf of borgking >this was only a test >------ snip ----------- > >Everything seems ok with both servers.
